![]() My mother was a breast cancer researcher, and she was actually one of the very few scientists who was a woman and a person of color. THE VICE PRESIDENT: Well, I was kind of born into the issue in that I - my sister and I were raised by a mother who had two goals in her life: to raise her two daughters and end breast cancer. Why did you decide to champion this issue at this moment in time in the role that you are in? This is such an important moment - a historic moment, truly - in the fight for our rights. ![]() And I’ve heard you talk about this a lot, but I think these folks would love to hear you talk about this. I’m going to start with an opening question. It’s awesome to welcome you back to our home - my home state of Texas. So I’m very inspired to be here with all of you. And it represents so much about the history of our country in terms of, when we - when we believe in what is possible and are committed to it, we can actually achieve it.
